Nurlan Uteshev has become the President of KAZGUU Alumni Association

This news was announced at the first meeting of the KAZGUU University’s inaugural conference of the Alumni Association.  The meeting was held in Almaty and was attended by graduates of the university, well-known researchers, lawyers, and businessmen of Kazakhstan.

At the conference, the participants discussed the future activities of KAZGUU Alumni Association.  The Constitution of the organisation was adopted and the head was elected by a unanimous vote.  The newly elected President of the Association, N. Uteshev, is an alumnus of the university, a former vice-rector of KAZGUU, well-know public figure, and currently the head of the Centre for Support for Civil Initiatives.  

Defining the goals for the future, Nurlan Uteshev noted, that the activities of the Association will be directed at consolidating the graduates of the university around the political vision of President Nazarbayev of strengthening Kazakhstan as a a state of law.

“We will make every possible effort to raise the public legal awareness, promote law and order, support lawyers’ legal work, drawing public attention to the pressing issues of the development of Kazakhstan’s legal sphere”, emphasised the President of the Association.

He noted that in the near future, the members of the Association will open branches of the organisation in different regions of Kazakhstan and abroad, and consider the proposal for establishing a Board of Trustees and an Executive Committee of the Association.

In addition, the members of the Association are planning to develop collaboration between lawyers at all levels; strengthen the connection between legal science, education, and practice; create conditions for active professional and public involvement of all the members of the Association.

The idea of creating the KAZGUU Alumni Association was first voiced at the October 2016 Alumni Reunion dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence and the 22nd anniversary of the university.
