533 Bachelors have graduated from the Higher School of Economics and the Higher School of Law this year. In addition, 141 Master’s degrees and 1 PhD degree have been awarded by the KAZGUU Institute of Graduate Education and International Relations.
The ceremony took place at the Themis’s Square, where the graduates received congratulations from KAZGUU Rector Talgat Narikbayev and the honorary guests: the President of Nazarbayev University Shigeo Katsu, the Managing Director of the Astana International Financial Centre Sayasat Nurbek, and the Chairwoman of the RK NCE Atameken Business Women’s Council Lazaat Ramazanova. To share this important moment in the lives of the new graduates, came their parents, family members and close friends.
279 Bachelors and 68 Masters received degree certificates issued by KAZGUU itself. Thanks to the accreditation that KAZGUU received from the international and national accreditation and rating agencies – CIMA, IQAA, ACCA and IQAA – KAZGUU has become the first university in Kazakhstan that was granted the right to award its own degrees starting from 2016.
According to an established tradition, the names of the top 28 graduates, including those with highest academic achievements, active participants in the social life of the University, and laureates and winners of international and Republican conferences, Olympiads, and seminars, were entered in KAZGUU’s Altyn Kitap (the Gold Book). The ceremony was concluded with a live concert with stars of Kazakhstan’s show business. The famous singers Marcel Alseitov and Kairat Bayekenov made special performances for the graduates of KAZGUU.
Part of the ceremony was a procession of graduates along the Themis’s Square, and laying the ‘Wish Capsule’. At the end of the event, graduates expressed their gratitude to their teachers and the management team of the University for the knowledge and skills they acquired during the years they spent at their Alma Mater.
