As part of the State Programme for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport, and in order to promote healthy life style, the university sponsors sports groups, including volleyball, basketball, table-tennis, and mini-football, all of which are free for any willing student to join. All university athletes are members of the KAZGUU EAGLES Sports Club.

Jambulat ibragimov, a gazguu student, won the world kyokushinkai karate championship

Jambulat Ibragimov, a 2nd year student of the Higher School of Law, won the world Kyokushinkai Karate championship (Brasov, Romania), which took place from 10 to 12 November 2016. Jambulat secured the title of the Champion, by winning the 1st prize in the below-70 kg weight category.

KAZGUU student represented Kazakhstan in Korea

Azya Leskali, a trainee and an active member of the KAZGUU Sports Club, won the 3rd prize in the Asia Open Shinkyokushin Karate Championship. Azya’s coach is Master of Sport S. Zh. Sadvokasov. Over 15 national teams took part in the championship, and Kazakhstan won the 1st prize in the team rating.

The 16th Asia Open Shinkyokushin Karate Championship took place in Pusan, Korea.

From 27 to 28 February 2016 Eurasia Sports Complex hosted Astana Open Jiujitsu Tournament, and KAZGUU team won. Nurbek Tenizbay, a student of group Y(K)-202, won the 1st prize and the title of the Tournament Champion; Temirlan Toleubergen, a student of group M-107, won the 2nd prize and the title of the Silver Medallist of the Tournament; Arman Barmanbekov, a student of group M-102, won the 2nd prize, the title of the Silver Medallist of the Tournament in his weight category, and the 3rd prize in the absolute weight category.
