One of the most awaited and spectacular events of the year, held in the best concert halls of the country.

A competition “Election of Themis”, who rightfully occupies a leading position in the life of the University, symbolizes rich and busy student life. Themis is a personification of justice, excellent academic performance, good behavior, activeness in public life, desire for self-development and improvement. Her legal status is the presidency in the Court of Honor of KAZGUU University, where cases of violations of students are considered. However, the Court of Honor is not a punitive apparatus, it is a “bridge” in conflict situations. So, “Election of Themis” is an annual grand event held as part of the matriculation ceremony. The most worthy pretender chosen by the jury awarded the judging attributes – the book “Zan” and “Scales of Justice”.

«KAZGUU CUP» is a firmly rooted annual tradition. The most powerful speakers of Kazakhstan gather here in order to re-test their strength and win the title of the best. By training and developing eloquence they get valuable experience necessary to anyone, who aspires to become the leader of the country. The most worthy participant in debate tournaments receives the coveted Cup.

«ALUMNI MARCH» According to this tradition, graduates pass the honorable way on Themis Square. The head of the march is Themis of KAZGUU, then they are followed by master’s students and, of course, those, whose names appear in the Altyn kitap, walk in the forefront ofthe march in order to remain forever in the history of KAZGUU. Then graduates-high achievers come. Finally, graduates cross the Themis square together for the last time and symbolically “open the path to a new bright future.”

«Altyn Kitap» is another long-standing tradition that dates back to 1998. It was the first time names of the best graduates have been immortalized in the Honor Book by making them sign in it at the graduation ceremony, and thus becoming part of the history of KAZGUU University.

«CAPSULE WITH A MESSAGE TO THE FUTURE» Unusual and interesting tradition – laying desires capsules. The graduate has to decide how he/she wants to see the future and by leaving this “desires capsule” here, he/she promises to the University to achieve all plans. Every year graduates open a new page in their lives by solemnly laying desires capsule and covering it with a stellar plate on the “Alley of KAZGUU Alumni”.
