Conducting a CLIL Seminar as a part of the Erasmus + program

During the period from 22 to 25 October, within the framework of the European Union Erasmus + program, on the basis of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools in Pavlodar city, teachers of the English Department of KAZGUU University together with teachers from the University of Leiden (Netherlands) have conducted seminars on CLIL topic (Content and language integrated learning).

About 60 teachers from secondary schools and universities of Kazakhstan have decided to participate in the Seminar.

On 22 and 23 October the Seminar was held for CLIL experts and teachers who have experience in conducting master classes and classes using this CLIL methodology. During the Seminar, the participants shared their experience of implementing the CLIL methodology in the educational process, and also analyzed theoretical component of this approach to the educational process, and developed a plan of a separate seminar for secondary school teachers.

On 24 and 25 October, teachers of secondary schools and university professors of Astana, Almaty, Pavlodar, Aksu, Uralsk cities, Korday town and Zhambyl region took part in a two-day practical workshop on the application of the CLIL methodology in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer science, English classes, etc.

During the Seminar, teachers have had an opportunity to broadcast the experience of conducting classes from the STEM cycle in English, according to the requirements of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and also learn from experience of teachers from other educational institutions. Participating in the Seminar, teachers had a chance to conduct mini-lessons on a subject they teach or are going to teach in English.
