- After graduating from the commercial academy, Soyer studied law at the universities of Vienna, Trieste and Göttingen. After completing his doctorate in 1981, he completed his court practice in Vienna the following year. In 1982/83 he was a contract assistant at the Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and in 1983/84 a guest student at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
- Soyer completed his bar exam in 1986 and was admitted to the Austrian Lawyers Commission in 1993. Already in his first law firm, he was involved in human rights issues and improved criminal procedure law, specializing in compliance, media criminal law, and the retrial of criminal cases. In 1995 he was in the Senate of the International Human Rights Tribunal, in 1996 he was part of the so-called Dream Team in defense of the human rights and LGBT activist Kurt Krickler against the complaints of outgoing bishops. He also took over numerous pro bono cases in the 1990s.
- In 1999, Soyer habilitated at the Karl Franzens University in Graz; From 2005 to 2011, he held a chair in criminal law at this university. Since 2012, Soyer has been a professor of criminal law at Johannes Kepler University Linz. His teaching focuses on corporate criminal law and criminal practice. He participates with articles and comments over and over again in debates on the current legal policy.

- RICHARD SOYER: The culture comes before the law
- Soyer has been working for juridikum magazine since 2000 – until 2002 as co-editor, until 2009 as editor and since then as a member of the scientific advisory board. Since 2002 he acts as editor of the Journal of Criminal Law and spokesman for the Association of Austrian Defense Lawyers. In 2012 he was elected Chairman of the Criminal Law Commission of the Austrian Bar Association. Since 1992, Soyer has published a series of textbooks, in particular on criminal law and corporate criminal law. Langandauernd is or was his journalistic collaboration with the lawyer colleagues Pleischl, Schumann, Schuppich and Stuefer;
- In 2012, the dedicated crime politician completed an EU research project on legal first aid to arrested suspects. Soyer’s solid knowledge of international criminal law has led to mandates in The Hague, New York and

Mr. Christopher Campbell-Holt (Hon. Prof., MCIArb) – Registrar and Chief Executive, AIFC Court and International Arbitration Centre
Mr. Campbell-Holt is the Registrar and Chief Executive of the AIFC Court and International Arbitration Centre (IAC). He is responsible for the day to day management and administration of the Court and IAC, case management of litigation before the Court to the extent delegated or directed by the Chief Justice, and case management of arbitrations and mediations before the IAC, and the appointment of mediators at the IAC as provided by the IAC Arbitration and Mediation Rules.
He managed the establishment of the AIFC Court and International Arbitration Centre. He is a member of the AIFC Legal Advisory Council, which reviews and approves AIFC law. He is a member of the International Council of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which advises on reform of the Kazakh courts and dispute resolution. He is an Honorary Professor at KAZGUU University, Kazakhstan, and a member of the AIFC Academic Council, which advises the training body of the AIFC, the AIFC Bureau for Continuing Professional Development.
He has many years of international legal experience gained while living and working in the UK, US, Middle East, and Eurasia. He was the Registrar at an international financial centre commercial court and alternative dispute resolution centre in Qatar under the Presidency of Lord Woolf. Prior to that, he worked at the international law firm Norton Rose Fulbright, in London, UK, and was a member of the Secretariat of the Committee that reviewed BAE Systems Plc following high profile corruption allegations and published its Report in 2008. He was later a Legal Consultant at a regional law firm in the Middle East that partnered with the US international law firm, Covington & Burling LLP, and practiced international commercial law and dispute resolution.
He has founded many international law institutions and dispute resolution groups, including as a founding member and Advisory Board member of the Centre for Ethics and Law at University College London. He has lectured extensively at law schools at universities in the UK, Middle East and Eurasia and leads the development of legal education courses provided by the AIFC Court and IAC. He has published widely including in legal practitioner journals and as the author of chapters on corporate insolvency for a leading Company Law publication, Gore-Browne on Companies (Jordans, 2007-2010 eds.). He was the Editor of The Pursuit of Justice (OUP, 2008) and Assistant Editor of Current Legal Problems (2005-2010eds.).
He was educated at University College London, where he read the LLB in Law and graduated in 2003. He is admitted to the Bar of New York State. He is a CEDR accredited mediator and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
