STUDENT MOBILITY PROGRAM
The Czech Republic
Academic mobility is a unique opportunity, experience and many fond memories. My choice fell on Mendel University, Czech Republic. While applying to Mendel University, I was faced with the problem of applying for a visa. As of 2018, the Czech Republic had made some adjustments that made it difficult to get a long-term visa. I was waiting for my visa for 1.5 months. Being a month late for my studies, I thought it was too late to go anywhere. However, after contacting the coordinators of both KAZGUU and Mendel, I learned that there were many students still arriving. In one day I packed my bags and flew out the same night. Thanks to the KAZGUU International Office for calming me down and telling me to fly in spite of the delay. The training at Mendel University is similar to KAZGUU, the only difference is probably a freer schedule. And here there are three attempts to pass the exam.
The Mevlana Scholarship Program
“Akdeniz University”, Antalya
The purpose of the Mevlana program is – academic exchange between employees and students of Turkish higher educational institutions and higher educational institutions of other countries. I was lucky enough to represent KAZGYU at “Akdeniz University”, Antalya. A sunny city where a lot of tourists won my heart from the first minutes, I made friends with a lot of students from different countries who also came as an exchange student. The educational process in many respects has differences, because here the training is officially in Turkish, but for exchange students are open courses in English and students Erasmus+, Mevlana, Free Mover study together. Most classes take place in the instructor’s office and often professors treat students to Turkish sweets and tea. This is my third institution in another country and I can confidently say that with each experience you make friends from different parts of the world, you build international networking, represent your country and see how interest in Kazakhstan among foreigners grows. This feeling gives me strength and I want your university and country to be known in every corner of the world.
SolBridge International School of Business
“Studying at SolBridge is interesting, I liked the interna- tional environment. I got a lot of new impressions from traveling, visiting places of interest, events and festivals,” Asyl shares. She advises students participating in the academic mobility program: “Start preparing for the departure well in advance. Collect the documents, find out everything in advance, if there are any questions about accommodation, you can always contact the host university by e-mail. I advise you not to skip classes, because the absences are evaluated very strictly. Try to always get good grades, because the grading system is a little different from ours.” Speaking of absences, Asyl added that the system is set up differently from the European system. SolBridge students use an app through which they mark their attendance in class as a matter of fact.

“First of all, the faculty is awesome. Second, the School of Law is located in one of the most beautiful buildings (Lewis Katz Building) on campus with a terrific library and the best facilities for students. Third, the chance to meet practicing attorneys from different states who have had experience, but despite that came to get an LLM degree at Penn State. …”.

The most interesting thing is that the instructors themselves divided the groups so that international and local students would look at a problem from different angles and have “cross-cultural communication. The most interesting thing is that the teachers themselves divided into groups, so that international and local students looked at some problem from different sides and there was “cross-cultural communication”… It will be the best 4 months of your life! As cliché as it sounds, you will arrive a completely different person!”
