September 24, 2020, Nur-Sultan, London — The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and KAZGUU University have formally agreed to work together to train and grow the number of internationally recognized finance professionals in Kazakhstan. This first-of-its-kind-partnership marks a remarkable milestone for both organizations amid the COVID-19 crisis and disrupted global environment.
With finance professionals playing an increasingly demanding role in driving business decision making, building trust and maximizing the performance of organizations, it is important that Kazakhstan develops its future talent pool of internationally recognized qualified management accountants to the economy grow nationally and internationally.
The cooperation program with the world’s largest body of management accountants (CIMA) is open to almost 600 students pursuing the undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Audit, Finance, Economics, and Management. From now on they can take advantage of the special conditions for obtaining the international CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting (CertBA). Based on their university courses, the students will be exempted from taking three out of four CertBA exams. Further, after passing just one CIMA CertBA exam in English, students will be able to obtain an international certificate and proceed to the CIMA Professional Qualification.
This initiative will also connect students and the university with the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, the global accounting organisation formed by CIMA and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), and its 650,000 students and members worldwide.

Annually in the framework of the memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, “PSA” LLP, NCOC N.V., KPO B.V., and the “KAZENERGY” Association, candidates are selected for covering the tuition fees at the expense of funds allocated under the North Caspian and Karachaganak projects.
Citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan may participate in the competition for the selection of candidates:
– graduates of general education schools, lyceums, profession-oriented schools, higher educational institutions, and colleges;
– students of higher educational institutions and colleges.
To participate in the competition, applicants and university students provide the following documents:
1) a standard application form;
2) a copy of an identity card/passport indicating an individual identification number (IIN);
3) a copy of a document confirming the receipt of previous education and quality points (certificate of general secondary education, or a UNT / CT certificate, or diploma) – for 1st year of study applicants and students – a transcript indicating the GPA (in case of a different system for assessing knowledge, provide a transcript of academic record equivalent to GPA 3.33, certified by the educational institution);
4) address certificate;
5) a certificate of family composition (only for large families);
6) documentary evidence of the candidate’s belonging to any of the indicated categories: low-income and single-parent family, an orphan, disabled person (if any);
7) submission of a certificate of enrolment/study from applicants/students (indicating: a tuition fee for one academic year, established for payment by legal entities, year and form of study, lack of financial liabilities) signed (on the official letterhead of the university or with a seal affixed);
8) (if any) copies of documents giving evidence of the participation in competitions, contests, etc.

Acceptance and registration of documents for admission to participation in the competition are carried out during the following period: from July 10 to August 25, 2020.

On June 12, 2020, an event dedicated to the national holiday – Portugal Day has been held as part of the Academic Diplomatic Club of M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University.
This event was held in the hall of the Academic Diplomatic Club with the traditional signing of the Diplomatic Club Stella. According to the established new tradition of the KAZGUU Academic Diplomatic Club, Mr. Adelino de Silva, Chargé d’Affaires of the Portuguese Republic to the Republic of Kazakhstan, presented a national flag to the University, which will subsequently be placed at all the events of the Diplomatic Club with the participation of Portugal. Besides, following the established practice, the Embassy presented books by Portuguese authors as a gift to the KAZGUU Library.
Since 2014, the Academic Diplomatic Club is based at KAZGUU. The University’s activities in the field of international cooperation are considered as the most important element of the integration of KAZGUU into the world educational and scientific space.
M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University, recognizing the importance of educational and cultural exchanges that can be achieved between the two institutions, within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation, entered into an agreement for the exchange of students in the field of economics, good governance and development.
The common goal of this agreement is to establish educational relations and cooperation between the two participating institutions to promote academic ties and enrich the cultural understanding of the two countries.
The goal of each student exchange is to give students the opportunity to study at a partner university, participate in academic and student life, and contribute to raising awareness about their university and country.
The OSCE Academy in Bishkek is the result of cooperation between the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. In 2002, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which gave official status to the establishment of the Academy as a regional center for postgraduate education and a forum for regional dialogue on security and scientific research.

CGMA emerging leaders competition is an international competition for future leaders in business and management. The competition is held by CIMA among the leading universities of mainland Europe and Eurasia.
32 students of the Higher School of Economics have been selected as participants of the CGMA Emerging Leaders Competition. They will demonstrate the ability to analyze and organize complex information, manage risks, and take responsibility for decision-making.
Higher educational institutions from Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, and Georgia will take part in the competition, which will be held this year.
The competition consists of three stages with the final round in Warsaw, Poland.
Team Coordinator Bakhytgul Turlubaeva and Academic Mentor Zhanar Aldambergenova, lecturers at the Higher School of Economics at KAZGUU named after M. Narikbaev, will guide teams during this challenge.
DATE OF THE COMPETITION:
1st Round (selection within the home university, online) – September 1-11. One team will be selected for a Quiz competition.
QUIZ competition (international online selection) – September 18
2nd Round (international online selection) – early October
3rd Round – October-November, Warsaw
